My name is Jenn Woods. I live in the beautiful Lakes Region of New Hampshire. I have been involved in the fitness industry for over 12 years. The past two years have been focused on clean eating and CrossFit. This is where I’ve seen the most results over a given period in time. I am recently married, have a 7 year old pug and own Prescott’s Florists. I teach a bootcamp fitness class as a second job, and I am a certified kettlebell instructor. Living a healthy lifestyle is my passion. Each day I learn something new to better my health and over all well being.
At age 16, I weighed 240 pounds. I was always active. My parents made me play 2 sports a year, but I ate food that no one should ever eat. Fast food, processed food and lots of sweets. I was the fat girl at the end of the Indian runs, but I think this was my parents’ way of keeping healthy. Then in November of my junior year of high school, something changed. I started hanging around girls that cared about their appearance . I started following their habits (exercise and starvation). By the time I graduated high school I weighed 135 pounds. The weight loss was great, but how I got there was not so hot. These unhealthy habits of over exercising and binge eating continued for the next 10 years. I was over trained and underfed with high fiber, low fat diets. And then I met Melissa. My savior! Melissa and I met at a Muay Thai Kickboxing class . We just kicked. She introduced me into Kettlebells, Crossfit and clean eating. It was amazing. I finally felt better. I ate small meals through out the day, stopped skipping meal and reached some great fitness goals.
Me and The Whole30:
I completed my first Whole30 in June of 2009. Since following the plan, I have not only gained overall health, I have gained confidence and strength. I no longer have the low energy dips or stomach problems I suffered from for years. Eating this way allows me to keep consistent workouts and make strength gains. It has also pushed me to adopt a healthy lifestyle, like giving up the cancer sticks (sugar free gum). Whole 30 is the way to go!
Melissa here, with an unsolicited comment on Jenn’s profile. (FYI, Jenn also goes by the name “J. Spice” in our comments, as a throwback to our CrossFit 603 days.) She is also my BFF and one of the most amazing women I’ve ever met. She is my cheerleader, my support system, my business boot camp instructor when I’m working too hard, and one of my favorite shopping partners. She does, however, dress her dog in ridiculous outfits. Nobody is perfect.
