Steal This Meal: Cashew Hummus

The trouble is, we searched health food stores far and wide all across the country over the next two months, and never again discovered a similar product. Undaunted, we did the only thing we could… and called in our resident (though virtual) Culinary Expert. Of course, we’re talking about our good friend and gourmet goddess Melissa Joulwan, of the blog The Clothes Make the Girl. We knew Mel could come up with a recipe for our cashew pate that would be just as good – if not better – than the original. [...]

The last night of our visit, we decided to leave the fish to the Captain, but prep the rest of the meal ourselves, using fresh and local ingredients. Enter Dallas’ on-the-spot creation – Summerland Mango Salsa. [...]

Fudge Babies, baby

While at dinner with CrossFit KoP owner Aimee Lyons, she made reference something called “fudge babies”. Turns out they’re a chocolate fudge-y concoction made with “less bad” ingredients – fruit, nuts and some natural flavoring. Aimee mentioned she’d made them a bunch of times, and they were always the first to go at a party or event. Then she mentioned she had a batch sitting in the fridge at home. [...]

Whole30 Recipe Book: Mexi-salad with fresh guacamole

We’ve been on the road a ton, and that means making extra efforts when it comes to Eating Good Food. When we travel, we pre-package travel meals in glass storage containers, pack coolers full of ice to keep foods fresh, shop for lunch at the nearest healthy food market, and order the best available meats, oils and vegetables for dinner. It also means that when we get home, we put EXTRA effort into cooking high quality, high variety, fresh and balanced meals. [...]
