Mr. and Mrs.

February 14, 2011

We've been M.I.A. from the site, email and our social network these past few days... but for very good reason.  We flew to San Diego last Wednesday, and quietly held a very small and private wedding ceremony on the beach in La Jolla on Friday morning.  Please forgive our absence for a few more days, as we return home, unpack and settle in with a few of our wedding pictures.  (You can see some yourself on the Whole9 Facebook page.)  We'll be back on line on Wednesday. Best, Dallas & … [Read more...]

Merry Christmas from Mexico

December 24, 2010

We're taking some of our own advice and spending the next two weeks on vacation in Mexico.  We're in a tiny little town about an hour north of Puerta Vallarta, where there isn't much tourism... but the beach (and locals) are fabulous.  We're eating amazing food, napping in the sunshine and taking in the local sights - like this Christmas parade down Main Street in De Lo Marcos.  We managed to jump in on the action just long enough to snap a photo with the main attractions, and figured this would … [Read more...]

The Whole9 Healthy/F-Off Scale, Version 2.0

December 18, 2010

The original Healthy/F-Off scale was published on Urban Gets Diesel (Melissa's old blog) in October 2008.  Since then,  the post has been one of the most linked and referenced articles on her site.  (For those wishing to revisit the original version, please take note, the "F-bomb" was in full effect back then.) Due to relentless pressure and public outcry (mostly from our friend and Whole30 expert Lauren Guibert), and because our priorities have changed dramatically in the last two years, … [Read more...]

Happy Birthday, Dallas!

September 24, 2010

Today, we've bumped our normal Steal This Meal feature (see yesterday's post for this week's offering) to wish Dallas a very happy birthday.  Normally he hates it when I say nice things about him in public, but what's a birthday without a little embarrassment? Dallas has been celebrating in style, hitting a snatch balance PR in the middle of his Catalyst Athletics strength cycle yesterday afternoon.  Not one, but TWO successful attempts at his heaviest snatch balance ever!  What better present … [Read more...]

A Taste of Thai

September 15, 2010

I (Melissa) am bored with the gym.  Bored with deadlifts and pull-ups, back squats and presses, rowing and running.  I re-discovered the bench press and the Prowler this summer, which peaked my interest for a few weeks, but all in all, I’m bored.  Not with exercise itself, but with all of my exercise coming from gym-related CrossFit-esque training protocols. So I decided to look up a Muay Thai place in Salt Lake City.  Back in NH, I took a half-cardio, half-kickboxing class based on Muay Thai.  … [Read more...]

The end of the road

July 21, 2010

As of Wednesday, July 14th, our road trip was officially over.  The final stats?  We traveled for 70 days, drove 12,300 miles and passed through 24 states (not including two provinces in Canada).  And most importantly, after spending 24 hours a day for the last 7 weeks shoulder to shoulder in a mid-sized Subaru Legacy... Dallas and I are still happily speaking to each other. You can check out our final road trip map here, to see our (general) route and all the places we stopped along the … [Read more...]

Road Trip Update

June 28, 2010

We're currently on a bit of vacation in Armstrong, BC, visiting Dallas' family and doing some camping in Banff.  We only have another few weeks left in the road trip, but wanted to update our Map with some really exciting information.  It's been updated on our sidebar - give it a click to see where we managed to squeeze in one last Washington workshop, AND where we've decided to settle down once the trip is over. We'll be back on comments at the end of this week, but in the meantime, enjoy … [Read more...]

A Paleo feast with the fabulous Melicious

May 24, 2010

We're slowly recovering from our biggest series of events yet (at CF Austin and CF West Houston) this weekend.  More on that (and pictures!) as we get our act together later this week.  Today's post is dedicated to a fabulous friend of ours, and the best hostess in Austin - Melissa "Melicious" Joulwan. Melissa has been a client and a friend for almost a year now, and is both a nutritionally savvy blogger and a fabulous cook in her own right.  She runs the blog The Clothes Make the Girl, … [Read more...]

Whole9 US Tour: The Mid-Atlantic, plus Atlanta

May 11, 2010

Our first week on the road is over!  We’ve been about 2,200 miles already (from Exeter, NH to Captain Tom's place in Cudjoe Key, FL… with a bunch of stops in between).  Internet time has been sparse – we’ve had to drive pretty long distances each day, and conducted three workshops in three different states in a four day period.  But now we’re settled in the Keys, and ready for a few solid days of vacation… interspersed with a Fort Lauderdale workshop on Wednesday, and blog updates and comments … [Read more...]
