Today, we are thrilled to introduce our healthy-eating, performance-driven readers a brilliant new resource–one that dovetails beautifully with our new Whole Athlete seminar series. And it’s brought to you by one half of the Whole Athlete team: Stephanie Gaudreau, of Stupid Easy Paleo. Even better? The other half of the Whole Athlete team, Dallas Hartwig of Whole9, wrote the foreword for this brand new e-book for athletes.
Wow, you’d almost think this was coordinated or something.
Introducing The Paleo Athlete, from Stephanie Gaudreau
You are a competitive athlete, a dedicated exerciser, a weekend race warrior. You’re also into eating a healthy, whole foods-based, real food diet–the kind we advocate with our Whole30 and Whole9 Life programs. But unlike other Paleo or Primal eaters, you’re concerned about health and performance. You’re not just fueling to live longer and be healthier, you’re fueling to be faster, stronger, leaner, winning-er.
And until now, there haven’t been a lot of books written on the subject.
The Paleo Diet for Athletes is a great place to start, if you’re into endurance athletics. But what about those of you who CrossFit, kettlebell, sprint, powerlift, and Olympic lift? How do you apply Paleo diet principles into your training in a way that allows you to maximize performance? (Hint: you can’t just do a standard “low carb Paleo” approach like everyone else. Well, you could, but you might be sorry.)
The Missing Link for Paleo Athletes
The Paleo Athlete bridges the gap between general Paleo recommendations and specific dietary strategies designed to improve athletic performance and recovery. It’s geared specifically for the sports mentioned above, and features strategies for those who participate in endurance athletics. Stephanie explains daily nutrition, training nutrition, and competition day fueling, giving you a range of macronutrients, recommended supplements, and timing strategies so you can figure out what works best for your body and your goals.
But The Paleo Athlete is more than just pre- and post-workout nutrition. Stephanie teaches you how to incorporate eating real food around your busy work, family, and training schedule. She gives you tips for preparing your kitchen, ideas for training meals on the go, and more than 50 recipes to get you started on your Paleo Athlete journey.
Take Your Performance to the Next Level
By using the guidelines outlined in The Paleo Athlete, you’ll be able to tailor your nutrition strategy in a way that works for you–your body, your life context, your sport, your goals. The information Stephanie provides will form the foundation for your carefully planned daily, training and competition-day nutrition, which will translate into faster times, heavier lifts, and course PRs.
Don’t keep flailing about cutting carbs here or drinking shakes there. Learn more about the science of performance nutrition, use Stephanie’s recommendations to create your own specific plan, and follow her tips to get the rest of your (sleep, stress, and recovery) house in order.

I downloaded the book only to find out that it cannot be delivered to Kindle because it is over 50mb. I want this on my kindle please. Thank you.
Against my better judgement I sent my information so I could “Download a preview of 226-page Paleo Athlete e-book, and get started on your path to improved athletic performance.”
I cannot get the download and when I click the different links on the screen they want me to download “from doc to pdf” program, etc.
You are creating negative vibes with this nonsense. Just give me the preview.
I managed to get it just fine. Maybe try another browser? Maybe a pop up blocker addon is getting in the way? I had to turn of ‘better privacy’ plugin on Firefox.
I’ve not finished it but it seems pretty good so far.
Blaine,
I’m not really sure what you mean. When you click the “download a preview” link, it takes you to Steph’s website, where you can preview the material right then and there, in pages format… no download required.

Same here, I’m also having issues in downloading the book. Do you have other ways how to acquire it?

Hi Cindy,
Are you referring to It Starts With Food or the Paleo Athelete? If it’s the Paleo Athlete, consider clicking over to her site: http://stupideasypaleo.com/the-paleo-athlete-book/
