We’re in the last leg of this road trip, heading back towards what will soon be our NEW home… Salt Lake City, UT. We’ll be there for a week or so, before we have to fly back East for our Toronto workshops. (More on our first international gigs at CF Academy of Lions and CF Colosseum soon!) After Toronto, we’re scheduled to spend some time back in New England, visiting with family and friends and collecting our stuff for the long drive back to Salt Lake City.
Of course, our final trip “home” wouldn’t be complete without a blow-out nutrition workshop for all our local friends. And as of this morning, we’re happy to announce a location… one of our favorite New England boxes… CrossFit Boston! We’ve just booked a Saturday morning event with Neal and crew, and couldn’t be more excited to be capping off our homecoming with a visit to CFB. We’re hoping to see a lot of friendly faces in Boston – fellow gym owners, trainers, CrossFitters, clients and friends. So register early, because space is limited and we won’t be back in New England again until sometime in 2011.
Details and registration information can be found on the CrossFit Boston site – and drop us a note here if you plan to attend! We’re looking forward to seeing everyone again – and promise to make four hours of nutrition lecture just as fun as your last 5×5 deadlift. See you in Boston!

Hey Melissa and Dallas,
Great to hear that you’re coming to Boston! I’m wondering if you think I should come out to see you guys. I only ask because I’ve seen Robb twice (once as a “Certificate” and once as a Seminar) and I watched Mat Lalonde’s Academy of Lions presentation recently. For nutrition, I read everything I can get my hands on. I try to keep it simple but I usually can’t for more than a day, Type A I guess. Just wondering how you would say that your workshop is different than Mat and Robb’s as I’m assuming that the nitty-gritty Paleo info is fairly close. Sorry for the weird question, I know you guys give a great presentation but I just don’t know if more info would be counterproductive at this point (I’m caught in the middle between unweighed/unmeasured Paleo and weighed/measured Paleo, it’s tough trying to balance out everything).
Thanks!
Mark – I love it when people as us, “Should I come to your workshop?” Of course you should. Aduh. :)
Robb’s posted on his site (and we’ve posted on ours) about how the workshops differ, but in a nutshell… we’re not biochemists. Which might work in our favor, because we’ve been forced to come up with ways to describe super-sciencey concepts like insulin sensitivity and auto-immune disease in ways that everyone – not just scientists – can understand. People seem to like that – even if they “get” what Robb is throwing down for them, we hear that our explanations make it easier for them to translate that material when talking to friends, family or clients.
We help people adopt their nutritional know-how to their real life. We talk about why vegetables help you preserve muscle mass, how to choose the best sources when adding fat to meals, and how the foods you are eating could be affecting you in sneaky ways you don’t even relate to your diet. It’s some basic science, lots of practical implementation and tons of Q&A to help you figure out how to eat well for your lifestyle.
That’s it in a nutshell… but perhaps some other people could weigh in. Been to both our workshop, and Robb’s gig? Drop your thoughts here – what’s different, what’s valuable, what’s your opinion?
I am so disappointed -I can’t make it on that date. Is there any chance you would do a Sunday workshop as well? I am going away for a week and come home on Saturday. If you end up scheduling another Massachusetts workshop I would LOVE to attend.
@Mark-
GO! Melissa and Dallas explained everything in a way that finally made the lightbulb go “DUH”! Make the effort and GO!!
Mark,
I would completely recommend Dallas and Melissa’s workshop. I have not gone to Robb’s but have read his material and listened to all the podcasts. I am somewhat of a nutrition geek but definitely not a scientist. I like hearing the sciencey stuff and figuring out how things work in the body but the Whole9 approach is more about how to put it into play.
Just my 2 cents.
Kevin
Oh yay! You’re coming to Boston!
But boo! It’s vacation time for me. I shall have to glean your wisdom via computer screen until our paths cross again.
@Tracy: If demand is high, we may be able to add a Sunday date – but we haven’t talked about that with Neal yet. Stay tuned to our site, in case that’s a possibility.
@Megan: Sorry we’ll be missing you, too! Next time we’re in town, hope you can join us!
Awesome, guys! I hear SLC is beautiful. Has this been planned for a long time or just since the road trip? I’m behind on my reading, so this might not be new news to everyone else. Dallas I got your email, so I’ll be responding to is soon.
Congrats on the move! I love to move. It’s exciting being in new places!
Ashley
I just wanted to say that the picture of you two is so friggin’ cute! Keep up the good work! Enjoy your new home. Thank you for all the valuable information.
Claudia in NV :)
I’ll be there, Melissa! Hopefully with my mother in tow. (She listens to everything everybody says but me, apparently)
Melissa and Dallas,
I’ve signed up for your Boston seminar. I was just curious if you recommend bringing anything (note taking materials, etc.)? Any other recommendations you can provide would be helpful. Looking forward to it!
@Ashley: Nice to hear from you! Keep in touch, and let us know what you decide to do with your programming.
@Claudia: We had such a great time in BC! It’s the most beautiful place on earth, I’m convinced. Hope things in NV are going well!
@Renee: Nice to hear from you! You’re on my list of people to email directly – we wanted to invite you and chat about something Robb wanted, too, that we thought you could help with. We’ll be in touch soon!
@Brendan: It’s a four hour gig, so bring water and snacks. You’ll have a workshop packet that you could take notes with, but a notebook and pen are a good idea. Otherwise, we roll pretty casual, so just show up with an open mind and a fun-loving attitude!
Melissa and Dallas,
I am SOOO excited to say that I will be there Saturday and ready to take in everything you throw at me! :)
@Jennifer: Woot! Can’t wait for the party! (I mean, workshop.)
I simply love this picture of the pair of you!
