We’re wrapping up here in Toronto, spending a few extra days kicking around the city. We jammed three workshops into our first international visit, and had a great time with each and every group. Our basic Nutrition Workshop at CrossFit Colosseum was a blast, and set the stage for our first ever “Trainer’s Workshop” later that afternoon. We debuted our new material to a diverse group of twelve Toronto-area gym owners, coaches and aspiring trainers, and spent three full hours explaining our foundations of nutritional coaching, how to review and optimize a wide variety of “typical” nutritional profiles, and how to create a sustainable nutrition focus for your gym, your trainers and, most importantly, your clients. (You can see an outline of the material we covered here.)
CrossFit Colosseum trainer Ryan H. said, “The trainer seminar was, in one word, EXCELLENT. I really liked looking at nutritional profiles – breaking it down, and the (subsequent) steps that you would take. This gave me A LOT to help people reach their goals. Overall it was an excellent perspective, and a different view on nutrition. I walked away with a lot of new ways to present nutrition (to my clients).”
We’re planning to review all the feedback from those in attendance, and will be rolling out new Trainer’s workshops in a limited capacity this fall and winter. Stay tuned to our web site for a Trainer’s Workshop coming to your area!
Sunday’s workshop at CrossFit Academy of Lions was a smart and lively crowd, who brought a lot of good questions and lots of nutrition know-how. Gym owner Dhani Oks and the AOL crew have built a strong nutritional focus into their gym, and it was a pleasure to work with a group so dedicated and passionate about good nutrition. Plus their gym is a giant Source of Awesomeness – everything from cool t-shirts (check our photo below!), to Paleo-friendly products like coconut butter and grass-fed beef. We were happy to meet the AOL gang, and even happier to bust out some Olympic lifting in between classes on Monday morning. (Thanks, Freya!)
We’re on to New England and CrossFit Boston next, gearing up for what is shaping up to be more a nutrition party than a plain old workshop. It’s not too late to join the fun – register on our sidebar!
