Whole9 is happy to announce a new weekly feature, designed to help those of you who want to take their Whole30 to the next level. Tired of eating chicken and broccoli? Bored with all the recipes in your current rotation? Unsure whether those “Paleo” or “Primal” recipes you see on other web sites are Whole30 friendly? We’ve got you covered.
Every Friday, we’ll be running a series of posts called, “Steal This Meal”. Each meal is complete right down to the last ingredient, and each meal is 100% Whole30-approved. The coolest part? Recipes come from YOU, our Whole9 readers! That’s right, we’re opening our doors to recipe submissions for our new “Steal This Meal” series. So for those of you ready to show off your culinary skills, works of gourmet genius AND your Whole30 success story right here in our spotlight, here are a few guidelines.
1. All recipes must come from Whole30 participants. Yep, you need to walk the walk before recommending Whole30 meals to others. So whether it’s your first program or your third time through, get on the bus before sending in your recipes for submission.
2. Your meals must follow these general guidelines: A dense protein source, tons of vegetables, perhaps some fruit, and some good fat.
3. We find vegetables are the toughest thing for people to get in adequate volume, so make them the star of your meal! Recipes that feature new, exciting, tasty vegetable offerings will go to the head of the class.
4. Each recipe must be a complete meal – leave nothing out. If you’ve got a salad, include a dressing recommendation. If you’ve used spices, include their quantities. Make your recipe bomb-proof, so everyone can follow along.
5. Take photos and share your story! We love pictures of good food, and we LOVE hearing your tales of Whole30 success, so send some pics and (if you like) a narrative along with your submission.
6. Send only original recipe creations, or substantial modifications of existing “non-Paleo” recipes.
7. Finally, test your recipes out. Sometimes things that look good on paper don’t actually work in the kitchen, so give it a trial run, and include notes about how the dish tasted, cooking tips and tricks and other feedback for our readers.
Ready to play along? Send your Steal This Meal submissions to recipes@whole9life.com, and include a recipe title, plus one or two photos.
The first meal (posted next Friday) comes from us – chicken with roasted carrots, Sunshine Sauce, and a mandarin and avocado salad with lemon vinaigrette dressing. (But we’ll cop to borrowing the best part – the Sunshine Sauce – from our good friend and Dino-Chow culinary expert Melissa Joulwan. We couldn’t possibly have come up with something that delicious all on our own.) So stay tuned for more great Whole30 meal ideas submitted by our readers, and make the Whole9 a regular part of your weekend meal planning.

Awesome idea!!!
soooooo excited to have some variety….and ready to share, too! luv it, luv it, luv it……
Oooooh – fun! Looking forward to submitting recipes from our kitchen.
This is a super fun idea, and you know I’m already thinking about my submission… XO
yeah this is a great idea!
We are so excited! This is our first Whole30 and we appreciate all the help we can get! Great idea guys! Thank you.
I love cooking, trying new foods, and living the Whole 30. Thanks for a great addition to your site. Excited to see what great ideas people share.
Cant wait! I am a new CrossFitter, and working on improving my eating. I’ve been finding a lot of helpful things on your site, and plan to come back often.
Perfect! I’m on day 8 now and have made some great meals and some “oh my God I’m never having that again” meals. I’d love some inspiration and a place to look for a quick meal idea without having to make my brain work so hard all the time.
A few of us from Jogo Crossfit Bellingham started a blog (intentionality.posterous.com) inspired by our commitment to the Whole30, Crossfit and our overall mind, body and soul health. The name “intentionality” was inspired by your making the point that “everything we eat is a choice” and so, we’re dedicated to making intentional choices.
Thanks guys for the motivation and support.
I would like a paleo “sandwich” – well, something/anything to provide the function of bread in a sandwich – you know, to hold the stuff inside – I am NOT craving bread/grains but simply looking for something to make eating a bit more portable! If anyone has any ideas that’d be great! I used to chop up turkey breast and mix with alfalfa sprouts and some mustard on tortilla shells – but that doesn’t work too well wrapped with lettuce! I even tried this with seaweed but seaweed and turkey is not a very tasty combination. LOL.
@ALL: So glad to hear the idea is a popular one! I hope we get LOTS of good recipe suggestions, mostly because we also love to try new meals. Looking forward to all of your submissions, and to our newest Friday feature. (Hope you like – and try – today’s posted meal – Sunshine Chicken and Roasted Roots.)
@Debbie: Nice to hear from Jogo. Love the blog title – keep us posted as to how you guys are doing with your Whole30.
@Ronna: Great suggestion for a Whole30-friendly “sandwich”. Anyone up for the task?
Best,
Melissa
Anyone have any ideas for how to make coffee a little bit sweet??? LOL Can you tell I’m only on day 3?? :) Thanks in advance!
Stephanie,
Darlin’, you need to rethink your “need” for sweet flavours. Coffee itself is not sweet! Once you complete the Whole30, you might find that you like(d) the sugar more than the coffee itself… If you absolutely cannot drink your coffee without something in it, I’d suggest dropping it, too. Food for thought. Best,
Dallas
awesome idea. You guys have one of the nicer, well-rounded blogs (and the site as an entire system rocks) and its good to know that youll be having recipes and pics. Ill definitely be following every time. Peace.
@Ben: Thanks for the compliment! You can also click the “Recipes” category on our sidebar for our older stuff – we’ve listed a few good ones here!
