After a few weeks of planning, we’ve arrived at a San Diego, CA workshop location, date and time! While we talked to a few CrossFit affiliates about doing our gig in their spots, we finally settled on a super cool location – a fire house! Unfortunately, there is no pole for Dallas and I to slide down as part of our grand entrance. (I already asked.) Apparently the fire department feels that a pole poses too much of a risk and hazard. To the men and women who BATTLE BLAZING INFERNOS WITH THEIR BARE HANDS. Huh. Anyway… here are the details!
Date: Monday, April 12th, 2010
Time: 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM (PDT)
Location: Chula Vista Fire Station #4, 850 Paseo Ranchero, Chula Vista CA 91910 (map)
Details: Registration is $75 per person via the PayPal link below, with a 20% discount for LEO and firefighters. (Email consulting@whole9life.com to register with a discount.) Space is limited to 25 attendees, so register early to secure your spot!
We are looking forward to a sunny workshop in an uber-cool location! See you in April, and until then… stay classy, San Diego.

I hesitate to share this, but what the hell…
I watched Bridget Jones’s Diary last night (I wasn’t feeling great and I was tired and the couch was comfy and shut up!… Go ahead. Crack your jokes; I’ll wait…) and this post reminds me of the scene where poor, lame-ass Bridget makes her big TV debut by displaying her arse, sliding down a firehouse pole in a mini skirt. Perhaps you should count your blessings on that one.
If on your west coast swing you want to visit our place by Lake Tahoe we would love to have you do your workshop at CrossFit Carson Valley. We are in the middle of a “Paleo Challenge” and some shoring up would be great. We also are having a Dutch Lowy training event here this coming Monday and Tuesday for the local FD’s. There may be interest from them and other nearby affiliates for your gig.
OMG, can a fire house actually call itself a fire house without a fire pole?! How much quicker is sliding down a pole compared to running down a set of stairs? You guessed it, the pole wins every time… For shame Chula Vista, for shame – the absence of that pole could cost vital seconds your citizens in need just don’t have!
Other than that minor point, i say good luck! Can’t wait to visit Cali.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but Whole 9 – i wanna be ON you.
PS. Don’t worry Melicious, no one here is gonna judge you. If that’s what you’re into, then that’s cool – even if when you say “it was on tv and you weren’t feeling well”, what you really meant was “i was feeling totally great ‘cos it was wednesday night and that means it’s bridget jones on dvd night….”
Oh by the way, I’m putting in my vote for Dallas to rock a Ron Burgundy mo for the workshop!
As a firefighter, a firehouse is a place/ location where people come together to accomplish a common goal of helping others when they have no one else to turn to. It may or may not have a fire pole, but it is still a firehouse.
