About two months ago, CrossFit 603 got really into jumping on stuff. Or over stuff, or across stuff… jumping, in general. Dallas set his sights on San Francisco CrossFit’s Koffin, and I set my sights on, well, anything over 24″, because that was as high as I’ve ever tried to jump. (I’m not a good jumper. No, I’m a TERRIBLE jumper. It’s an evil, evil Goat.) So we’ve been practicing, hitting 60.5″ box jumps (Dallas) and 34″ car jumps (me – see blog header).
Fast forward to last week, as Dallas managed to jump his way across two states on our Affiliate Tramp through Oregon and California. We enlisted the help of Lu Crenshaw, owner of CrossFit Allegiance and our shared CrossFit Crush. Seriously – Lu can out-up me by 10″… and she’s only 5′ 3″ tall. So she was all too happy to jump around with us for a couple of hours on a Sunday morning.
Everyone loves a good montage, right? Here are some successful (and not so successful) jumps shot during our morning of fun at XFA. Also, in case you were wondering, tires are not soft, people – as you may be able to tell by the look on my face after some of those fails. Hey, we should all be working our Goats, right? (Even if our Goats make us look awkward and uncoordinated in front of hundreds of blog readers. At least my socks are cute.)
Stay tuned later in the week for the “Big Ups – Five Oh Edition”… and the final results of Dallas v. The Koffin.

The "Birthday Cake" was totally sweet. I need me some tires!
Awesome! Tires is there anything they can't do. Looks like you all had a great time.
Now I just need to figure out how to get tires free or on the cheap.
Penty,
Head to your nearest tire store and ask. That's how I got mine. 2 of them someone actually just left at my gym outside my door. They saw the other ones and decided to dispose of them. =)
Hey guys thanks for coming out to visit and making some AMAZING food!!! I had such a good time and really wished we lived closer…KEYS BABY!!!
Redonk! I want to submit it to CuteOverload.com.
Dang it. Now I'm all f*cking inspired to work on jumping.
Damn.
Melicious,
What's CuteOverload?
I gotta get some cute socks to jump in!!!
http://www.cuteoverload.com – ridiculous cuteness that ruins my punk rock cred
best socks: http://www.sockdreams.com
That web site is the yin to Fuck You Penguin's yang. Which I still say is the funniest site on the interwebs.
So Melissa I am now realizing we should have done a special meet and greet at the gym with maybe some autograph signing. One of my clients just showed the link to a friend of hers and the friend asked if she got to meet you….You fabulous woman you!!!
Alright girls (Melicious and Melissa) those websites were so utterly random and a bit disturbing.
Melicious that's got nothing on your punk rock cred.
Alright! Great to see you guys are having fun!
Now I'm gonna go jump over the next things I see-
Mike
awesome…whats with the running start though? I'm at 43.25" from a stand still so far….jumping is fun.
Don't you criticize our fun, Daigle. I don't care if you run, skip or pas de bourée on approach. Just get your feet up on something HIGH and stand the smuck UP.
Kisses.
Kevin you best start working on that especially if you're gonna criticize the run because I have a standing 43" as well and I'm a girl shorter than you. Hee hee gobs and gobs of hugs and kisses!!!! =)
Love you too Melissa lol….
Lu to be fair, we're basically the same height….
PS..that was also the 1st time I've EVER done a max height box jump.
Woot! Box jumps rock! Good job Melissa!
BIG UPS!!!! BRRRRTTTT!
Two quick Paleo questions, please.
Grean beans = pass or fail?
I cooked them to toss with my salads, and I realized my mistake while packing my lunch this morning. But, am I right – Green beans are a no go for now, right?
And, how about Peanut Butter Cookie Lara Bar = pass or fail?
I bought them thinking Lara Bar is all good. I ate one. But, then I realized that was prolly a mistake.
Other than that, still enjoying eating clean.
It has been a ridiculous week because I planned poorly – I have reverted back to my pitiful 5 hours of sleep. At least now I know I miss those 2 hours. :)
I love the box jump montage and can't wait to see the video for the Koffin after seeing the picture of it on Facebook.
Now I’m on a 'Modified Paleo' eating plan after being absolutely horrible in the last month after finishing the challenge. It's only been a week and a half but I am already feeling better, even after attending a Chuck Norris themed pub crawl on Saturday night. An occasional non-Paleo choice doesn’t seem to hurt the body as much when I make good choices most of the time. The last month of poor choices also taught me what I really shouldn’t be consuming due to the different reactions my body was having. I’m very pleased that my face is clearing up again. It’s funny how I do feel stronger but if that was the only benefit to eating right I don’t think would be able to stick with this. That may change once the local affiliate opens next month. When I have someone else training me and helping to track and push PR’s I may have additional inspiration for my life choices. But right now, it’s truly superficial ;-)
Melissa – When were you at the San Fran box? One of my friends was there in the last week. Her name is Sarah Campbell and she is awesome.
HI- LARIOUS! :) Love it!
Jamie:
Girl, you weren't kidding when you said the triplicates are hard. Week 3 has been a week of cravings for me: pancakes on Sunday, any type of bread on Monday and margaritas/queso last night. I'm staying strong, but totally had to talk myself back into Paleo-mode.
I bought a Peanut Butter Cookie Larabar, too before I remembered that peanuts = no go. I haven't eaten it yet, so I'm saving it for after the challenge just in case.
I seem to remember the Moxy Boss saying green beans are more pod than bean so they're okay (correct me if I'm wrong!), but I've been staying away from them just in case.
Keep up the great work! We're over halfway done!
Also, for the rest of the group, I posted this on Mel's website, but thought I'd share here, too:
Ice cream = mind control!

Thanks Mer! I had thought I saw something about more pod than bean… but I will wait to cook anymore for a good while. That darn Lara Bar – at least it was a mistake and not a cheat.
Glad you are hanging tough against those cravings – we did not come this far not to Finish strong. :)
I have no idea what I want to be my first treat. I don't miss some foods nearly as much as I had thought that I would… It feels so good to feel in control and slimmer.
@ Steve – How many days remain before you call your first month done? Very excited for all of your changes and positive feedback!
@ Jake – How are you doing settling back into the paleo plan while at the mercy of cafeteria service?
Have a great evening all!
Green beans are not technically Paleo, but that's not the point of this 30 day program. I'm okay with them (and snow peas/sugar snap peas). They're all far more "green" than "bean", and they have an alkalizing effect on the body. Thumbs up.
Peanuts in any form, however, are not okay. Dump those Larabars, especially since there are so many other delicious flavors out there.
@Jamie
I am on day 33 and I am down 22 pounds and 5 inches off my waist. Thanks for asking. I also enjoy reading success stories. It helps me to stay clean knowing that am not alone in this journey. Life is good!!!
