Kelly Starrett is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), and one of the original founders of San Francisco CrossFit. He was recently featured in a series of CrossFit Journal articles on the shoulder, including “The Functional Shoulder”, “Shoulder Assessment” and “Shoulder Impingement”.

Kelly Starrett, talking about the shoulder
Putting heavy stuff overhead isn’t just a physical task. Understanding how your body works is just as important to your training, so spend some time today reading what Kelly has to say. (Don’t have a CFJ subscription yet? You’re missing out on lots of good stuff…)

This is great! My subscription to CFJ is really paying big dividends. The info on impingement was spot on for me. I was just complaining about shoulder pain and not being able to do full ROM pullups because my left shoulder would lock as I got to full extension in the down position. It is good to get some ‘science-y’ stuff once in a while to get my posture and form on track. thanks!
